FREESTYLE TEAM

Willard Mountain’s Freestyle has been long known for its excellence in training and is a highly-regarded force in the Northeast’s competitive freestyle circles. If you don’t believe us, ask Bruce Bolesky who often comments about his Willard Mountain Freestyle days. He eventually became a National Amateur Freestyle Champion in 1975 and competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.  He states, “I can’t give Willard Mountain enough credit for my ability to excel in the sport of skiing. As a young man, I was able to train and compete through Willard Mountain. The coaches were exceptional. The ability to spin the laps and keep training on the lift system allowed tight and well-orchestrated training sessions. The staff and management at Willard made it so easy for me to progress in the sport. Smaller ski areas have bigger hearts!”

Our head Freestyle coach Dan Petteys(seen in our background picture) remains committed to providing the same excellence to young skiers that Bruce experienced during his Willard years. Dan is a Certified USAA Mogul and Aerials Coach.  Athletes on the Willard Freestyle enjoy competing in local events, State and Eastern Regional Championships. Dan has helped coach at Purgatory near Durango, Co. and brings his experience back home to Willard.
